General Description

The purpose of this position is to support the Indigent Program by accurately processing invoices from network and non-network medical providers.

This position works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.

Duties and Responsibilities

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.

The position will assist the Indigent Program Coordinator II with the following duties and responsibilities listed below.

  • Process hospital invoices for community and jail health care covered by the BCIHC program.
  • Assist the bill payment department with processing 110 letters, opening, and screening mail, etc.
  • Assist with communicating with provider and customers via email, phone, or letters.
  • Scan documents into client electronic record and/or assist in proper and timely destruction of private health information and other confidential documents.
  • Tracking Social Security Administration/Veterans Administration pending cases (screen SSA reviews, 113 forms, etc.)
  • Compile various system reports as appropriate to accomplished assigned tasks.
  • Assist and support Bill Payment Coordinator with office correspondence.
  • Performs related work as required.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by four (4) years of experience working with Medicare, Medicaid programs or health billing systems; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Physical Demands:

  • Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
