DUTIES

Responsible for therapeutic services for residents in facility programs and ensures that juveniles receive treatment as outlined in the program requirements. Responsible for taking appropriate steps to refer any resident to a psychologist, psychiatrist or other professional if warranted.

QUALIFICATIONS

Basic Qualification Requirements:

1.Must have:

a.Master's degree in behavioral science or a closely related field conferred by a college or university (accredited by an accrediting organization) and deemed recognizable by the Coordinating Board, Texas College and University system;

b.LPC, LMSW, or LCSW as issued by the State of Texas; and,

c.One-year experience in full-time therapy, case management and/or discharge planning in a social service, community correctional or juvenile agency that deals with offenders or disadvantaged persons

2.Must have valid Driver's license, proof of adequate liability insurance; and a personal vehicle that is dependable for day-to-day transportation;

3.Possess physical stamina to handle potential physical outbursts of violent youth and be able to restrain a child who is resisting.

4.Must have the ability to work with a diverse population.

5.Must be of good moral character.

6.No staff member may possess, while on duty, any firearm, illegal weapons, or chemical agents.
